   "Wataru..."

   "Who?"

   "Wataru... you don't remember me?"

"Who... who are you? Show up!"

"Not yet. Soon, very soon... otouto..."

   "Otouto ka?"

==//==

He couldn't remember anything else. Yukimaru woke up in confusion, those words didn't leave his mind, though he couldn't even remember the voice which had said them. And which had used the name Wataru, the name he had chosen for himself. And which had called him otouto... little brother...

Walking out of his bedroom and down the stairs, he checked the clock in the kitchen. Five o'clock in the morning. He opened the refrigerator and drank all the milk that was still inside. Rubbing his left hand over his mouth, Yu closed the refrigerator and went back to his bedroom.

He set up his bed, took his uniform from the closet and went to take a bath. The cold water over his body woke him up definitely. He got out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around his waist and got to dress for school.

When he finished putting on his uniform, the boy looked at himself carefully in the mirror. His small, round glasses showed his big brown eyes. His dark, short hair showed his slim face. /And I better quit vaining before I get late for school. / he thought in a self-chastising way.

Walking again down the stairs, he saw his little brother and father in the pantry. Mussing his brother's hair, he greeted him.

   "Ohayou, Tsuta."

"Ohayou, Yu." Tsutarou answered, trying to put his long green hair back in place, though some strands insisted in falling over his eyes, also green but a couple of shades darker.

"Ohayou, otoo-san." Yukimaru said, bowing to his father.

"Ohayou, Yu." he answered a few seconds later, taking the newspaper away
from his face and smiling.

Entering the kitchen, the boy greeted his mother.

   "Ohayou, okaa-san. Need some help?"

"Ohayou, Yu. Iie, iie, arigatou. Breakfast is almost ready." the young lady answered, despite his son could see she did need help. Without saying a word, he picked a knife and started dicing some vegetables.

   "Yukawa Yukimaru."

   ...

   "Yukawa Yukimaru!"

"Hoe, Yu! Answer!" the student who sat behind Yukimaru whispered, patting his shoulder.

Caught off guard, he stammered, blushing "Eee? Ah... aa... ano... p-present!" then turning his head backwards "Arigatou, Satsuki."

"Yukawa-san, you should pay more attention to class."

Turning his back to the sensei again, he answered, still blushing slightly "Hai. I will." with these words, he went back to thinking about the dream he'd had the night before.

Class passed pretty uneventfully. All the sensei had to get Yu to focus sometimes, but he did his best to seem like he was paying attention to... whatever it was they were teaching.

"Tadaima." he said, taking off his shoes.

"Okaeri." he heard his mother's voice from the living room.

As he walked up the stairs, Yu suddenly felt tired. His eyelids grew heavy and he wanted desperately to get to his bed.

Far away from there, he was watched over.

"So Iris, what about him?" the male figure asked, seemingly worried.

   "Wataru?"

   "Who else?"

"He's already asleep, Your Highness." the female figure answered.

   "Good."

Standing up from his crystal throne, the tall, thin elf walked to the small girl. She gave him a little glass flask. Opening it, the prince checked it's content. Then he stuffed the flask within his golden hair locks.

   "I shall go now."

"You do that." he answered with a nod.

The little elf went out of the room, her blue hair flowing as she exited.

==//==

   "Wataru."

"It's you again... who are you?"

   "It's me, Iris."

   "Show up, Iris!"

   "Hai!"

With a blinding flash, a humanoid figure appeared before Yu. What was just a silhouette quickly gained detail. A girl, just a bit smaller than Yu. He assumed since he was fifteen, the girl should be about fourteen. She still had to develop her figure, cause for now her body was just kawaii.
Yet, her long blue hair, big silver eyes and warm smile gave her an unspeakable beauty. Not to mention her clothes. A long, white robe with what looked like runes embroidered to it, and many silver jewels with blue stones incrusted. And there were her... ears... long, pointed ears...

Gaping and scratching his eyes, Yu barely managed to ask "Who... who are you?"

"Iris desu, otouto." the little elf answered smiling, her eyes closing.

"Aaaa... gomen... I don't remember you..." he answered, blushing.

"I supposed not, Wataru." she didn't seem angry or upset.

Doing his best to regain his composure, Yu asked "How do you know this name?"

Iris giggled with what seemed to her like the most absurd question ever.

"How could I not know my little brother's name?"

   "So... I'm your little brother."

   "Hai!" she nodnodded happily.

"Me? Are you sure about that?"

"Of course!" she walked closer to the overwhelmed boy and took his hand,
then a big flash of white light engulfed both. And everything dispelled, like incense smoke when blown by a mischievous breeze.

   *knock*knock*

   ...

   ...

   *knock*knock*

   ...

   *KNOCK!*

   "YUUU! Dinner's ready!"

"Aaa... hai! Hai! I'm coming!" a startled Yu answered from inside his bedroom. /Iris.../
